October 12th, 2022: Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens will open up their 2022-23 season with a contest against Original Six member and rival, Toronto Maple Leafs. The two teams will square off on Wednesday, October 12th, to get the Habs season underway.

This will be the first chance for Montreal Canadiens fans to get out to the Bell Centre and support the new team. It will also be the first regular season game that Nick Suzuki dons the “C” on his home jersey.

The Maple Leafs are one of the Canadiens’ top rivals, and the storied history should make for a fun first night of Habs hockey. It will be interesting to see how the adrenaline and energy that comes with the first game of the year will fire up the two teams as they begin their season.

On top of the first-game jitters that could lead to some hefty performance, the Canadiens are going to get the chance to open up the season with a victory on home ice. There’s nothing better to kick off a season than a victory, and the 2022-23 Habs have a chance to do it in less than a month.

Not to mention, fans will be eager to see what happens with 2022 no.1 draft pick Juraj Slafkovsky. He will be looking to debut with the Habs immediately rather than starting with Laval Rocket. It’s a storyline to watch leading up to this game.
