December 17th, 2022: Tampa Bay Lightning at Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have plenty of home and road games leading up to game no.2 on this list. However, they have a game in mid-December that Habs fans may want to tune into. On December 17th, the Tampa Bay Lightning will come to town.

There’s going to be some bitterness to the match-up. The team has yet to beat the Lightning at home since they did it during the 2020-21 Stanley Cup Finals. The Habs fell in just five games to the Bolts and since then are 1-2 overall against Tampa Bay.

Their only victory against Tampa was a shootout victory down in Florida at Amalie Arena last April. It’s been good games between the two teams since they got their rematch after the Cup finals. This will be the first shot at the Lightning that the Canadiens get during the 2022-23 season.

They will get two chances against the Lightning in December, one at home and one on the road. This is the first of the two meetings in December, and tuning in should be a good choice. The hope is that the Canadiens can get on the winning side of the season match-up early in this game.

Once again, an opportunity to go up 1-0 on the Lightning this season in front of the home crowd. Those “season-series” records can matter in the long run, plus it’s just nice to take a game against Tampa, knowing how good of a team they are.
