Montreal Canadiens Prospect Tracker: Cale Fleury Excelling on His New Team
Cale Fleury is having success on his new team while the goalies are shutting the door in this latest Montreal Canadiens, prospect tracker.
There’s been a little more positivity surrounding the Montreal Canadiens prospects. Each one is continuing to standout in their own way, and some, in particular, are eyeing a return to action. Noah Juulsen has been out since September after fracturing his foot but has been skating with the Laval Rocket and even traveled with the team. You have to think that he’ll be making his season and professional debut soon. Additionally, 2017 2nd round pick Josh Brook still has at least another month left until he returns as he’s recovering from wrist surgery early in the year.
We’re all waiting for those two to get back at it, but for now, let’s see what the Habs prospects have been up to in this last little bit.
Tracking From November 10th – 19th
William Bitten
Bitten and the Hamilton Bulldogs have been on a tear lately winning four of their last five games. The 19-year-old had his best night offensively on Saturday against the Ottawa 67’s. Bitten scored 15 seconds into the game after his teammate stole the puck behind the net and got it to him at the right faceoff circle. He was also involved in the next two goals for the Bulldogs finishing the night with three points in total.
The CHL also defeated Russia for the third time in a row. Bitten was a part of the victory as his Team OHL won against Russia last Monday.
Season Total: 4 goals 15 assists
Michael Pezzetta
The Wolves captain put up a goal and two assists in this latest six-game stretch. Pezzetta was close to receiving league discipline after a big hit landed on Alexey Lipanov. He got a five minute major and a games misconduct for it, but a suspension may have been a possibility considering he’s gotten supplementary discipline from the OHL before.
Season Total: 11 goals 12 assists
Cale Fleury
It’s been a change of scenery from the former Kootenay Ice captain. Fleury was traded to the Regina Pats last week in what looks like an early stockpile initiative for the Memorial Cup this year which the Pats are hosting. He was pointless in his Pats debut on Wednesday but played well enough to show the team why they made the right decision in acquiring him.
Fleury has yet to score a goal for Regina, but the points have started to come as he has two assists in the two games. Happy Belated Birthday Cale (it was yesterday), it’ll be a matter of time before the Habs prospect finds the back of the net in Regina.
Season Total: 6 goals 6 assists
Scott Walford
We praise Walford for his defensive prowess, and it seemed to falter a little bit early last weekend, but has picked up to where it usually is. The defenceman was a combined +3 over the team’s two wins this weekend. Walford also put up some points assisting on both the game-tying and winning goals in Victoria’s 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Season Total: 10 assists
Jarret Tyszka
The 2017 5th round pick got the monkey off his back and scored his first goal of the season, and it was a beauty. In fact, the WHL included it on its top ten plays of the week. Just a solid individual effort and patience displayed by Tyszka there.
The Thunderbirds are struggling to hang in there, but they managed to snap a four-game losing streak against the Everett Silvertips. Tyszka isn’t on the scoreboard every night, but he’ll be a big part of Seattle’s attempt to turn things around.
Season Total: 1 goal 11 assists
Lukas Vejdemo
It’s been a relatively slow set of games for Vejdemo. The 21-year-old still managed to keep up with his high energy shifts but went pointless between the three matches.
Season Total: 5 goals 5 assists
Arvid Henrikson
There was a lot for the 2016 7th round pick to celebrate. Not only was Örebro more on the winning side in this last stretch, but Henrikson also made his SHL debut playing for the big club on their Thursday night game against Rögle BK.
Season Total: 5 assists
Joni Ikonen
The 18-year-old is still waiting for his first goal with KalPa. Ikonen is getting his chances and slowly playing with more confidence, but unfortunately, he doesn’t have much to show for it.
Season Total: 2 assists
Ryan Poehling
It was the tale of two weekends for St. Cloud State as they won both of their games this past weekend while losing both the one before. Poehling had three assists over the four matches. We suspected that this would be a better offensive year for the 2017 1st round pick, and it looks like we all were right as he’s already tied his point total from last season in 24 fewer games.
Season Total: 3 goals 10 assists
Cayden Primeau
The Northeastern goaltender faced the most amount of shots in his college career against Boston University stopping 33 or 34 shots. Consistency is looking to be the problem for Primeau lately as he’s shut the door some nights and others have goals go right through him. However, he’s still only eight games into his freshman year and has time to figure it out.

Casey Staum
The Fighting Saints are going through another tough stretch having only just ended their three-game losing streak. Staum was pointless in the four games and a combined -1.
Season Total: 2 assists
Hayden Hawkey
Still the best name in hockey. The Providence senior had a career game against Merrimack stopping 40 of 41 shots in the team’s 2-1 win. It was a close call as Hawkey was forced to make two huge saves in the final seconds of the game.
Unfortunately, his next game was the complete opposite. Hawkey allowed five goals on five shots in the first period and didn’t come out to start the second.
Season Total: .907 save percentage 2.71 goals against average
Nikolas Koberstein
Koberstein has found a way to put up some offence scoring his first goal of the season against Ferris State and adding an assist against North Michigan University.
Season Total: 1 goal 3 assists
Jake Evans
It’s still amazing that this guy was a 7th round pick. Evans is continuing his NCAA domination adding a goal and three assists to his season total. The 21-year-old is no longer first in scoring, but there’s no doubt he’ll return to being at the top again.
Season Total: 5 goals 17 assists
