October 14th, 2022: Montreal Canadiens at Detroit Red Wings

While the Montreal Canadiens will open their season two days before this game, it will be just as important for them. Hopefully, they are headed to Detroit with a 1-0 record, looking to take on the Detroit Red Wings to keep starting the season out on the right foot.

After all, they will get to face an old friend in defencemen, Ben Chiarot. He signed a long-term deal in Detroit this offseason after being dealt to the Florida Panthers at last year’s trade deadline. Besides that, it will be the first chance to see the Habs on the road, and the excitement of a new season will still surround the team.

The Red Wings and Canadiens will provide a fun Original Six matchup for the fans who tune in. It’ll be an exciting matchup with the Red Wings trying to turn the corner on their rebuild and the Habs looking to show that they can still be a competitor with the right pieces.

It will make for an exciting matchup, and who knows, it could be the fans’ second look at first overall draft pick, Juraj Slafkovsky, with the Habs if he breaks camp with them, which seems like a plausible thing that could happen.

This is a game the fanbase should be looking forward to as the 2022-23 season inches closer and closer.
