T.J Tynan

While he’s managed to consistently establish himself as one of the AHL’s premiere players, T.J Tynan just hasn’t gotten much of a chance in the NHL, though he’s managed a few cups of coffee here and there. Standing at just 5’08 and 160 pounds, Tynan’s small size and struggles to adapt to NHL ice have limited his opportunities to little beyond a 16-game stint with the Colorado Avalanche in 2019-20. On the opposite side of the coin, however, Tynan currently leads all AHL players in scoring with remarkable 11-63-74 totals over just 45 games.

A skilled playmaker with decent speed and awareness, Tynan has seen little beyond bottom six minutes in the NHL, in spite of being named AHL MVP in 2020-21. In my opinion, I feel as though he is deserving of a look in a more substantial role, especially as he enters the end half of his career at 30 years old. An early star for the Vegas Golden Knight’s affiliates during their inaugural seasons, I think Tynan would be an interesting fit into St. Louis’s system as a depth offensive option, especially considering his low, future considerations esque trade value.
