Ottawa Senators. 7. team. 91. . 6-9-1. Previous: 7th

The Ottawa Senators season continues to basically go according to plan. They have no visions of playoff dates this season and may as well rent out the Canadian Tire Center for the second half of April right now. However, they are getting impressive performances from young players and aren’t being embarrassed on the ice.

Sure, their 6-9-1 record is not amazing, but the went 2-1-0 again this week beating the Los Angeles Kings and Carolina Hurricanes at home. They have been okay at home all year with a 5-4-0 record but their 1-5-1 record away from Ottawa has them near the bottom of the standings. It shows they don’t have the depth to compete with teams when they can’t get favourable matchups all night.

They are getting decent offence with 45 goals in 16 games played. Anders Nilsson is starting to play really well in net and should help the team stay out of the basement of the standings. They already have a lot of promising young players and will have two first round picks thanks to the Erik Karlsson trade to the San Jose Sharks. With the Sharks struggling as well, they could be two top picks and that is what the Senators need to be focusing on now.

Last week’s record: 2-1-0
