72. . 4-11-1. Previous: 8th. Detroit Red Wings. 8. team

The Detroit Red Wings took out the Edmonton Oilers with a 3-1 win to begin their week. They closed out the week with a pair of ugly losses over the weekend. They were blasted by the Carolina Huricanes 7-3 and then shutout by the Florida Panthers 4-0.

Big things were not expected from the Red Wings this season, but with a youthful roster there was hope a few players would have breakout seasons. The Wings are finally seeing some young players like Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi taking over from agains veterans like Justin Abdelkader and Frans Nielsen.

The Red Wings are still relying on their top line for almost all of their scoring and it is just not enough. They have a 4-9-1 record on the season and have been outscored by 24 goals already. They aren’t last in the division standings but it may just be a matter of time. They are two points up on the Ottawa Senators but the Sense have played three less games.
