De la Rose Breaks the Ice in Detroit
Former Hab Jacob de la Rose scored his first goal as a Detroit Red Wing Saturday night in a 4-3 home loss to the Edmonton Oilers. The goal also marked his first point as a Red Wing in five games to date. De la Rose was claimed off waivers by Detroit Oct. 17th after Montreal attempted to send him to the farm following a cardiac scare earlier in the month. De la Rose sat his first two games in Detroit before making his Motown debut October 26th versus the Jets. Best of luck and health in the future Jacob!
Addison Bids Adios to Habs
In a somewhat strange and unexpected turn of events, Canadiens forward prospect Jeremiah Addison was granted his unconditional release by the club on Friday. Addison was a seventh-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL draft and still had two years remaining on his entry-level contract with Montreal.
Although unconfirmed by either side as of press time, it appears Addison requested the move in order to return to school to pursue his education. If so, he may intend on playing collegiate hockey during his studies, which would obviously entail the immediate termination of any existing professional contract.
Addison finished his junior career strong, culminating with a hat-trick in the 2017 Memorial Cup as a member of the Windsor Spitfires. However, injuries have plagued his pro career to date, limiting him to just six games last year and forcing him to start this season on Injured Reserve following another setback. Hopefully, we’ll get all the details soon to fill in the blanks in this storyline, but in the meantime, we wish Jeremiah great success on his new journey. Our loss is academia’s gain.
