Montreal Canadiens: Awards, Draft, Home Opener And More

Home Opener

Home openers were announced via social media this morning, and the Canadiens will open at the Bell Centre, on October 15, 2015, vs the New York Rangers. Prior to that, the Habs hope to spoil the home openers of the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 7th, the Ottawa Senators on October 11, and Pittsburgh Penguins on October 13.

Habs fans will, no doubt, be cheering for 82 victories this season. But knowing that’s not realistic, we can hope that the Habs enjoy a first week back as successful as the one they opened with in 2014, which had them racking up 8 points out of a possible 10 in their first five games.

2015 NHL Draft

The 2015 NHL Draft takes place in just two days, the 26th of June and 27th. The party gets underway, from the BB&T Arena (home of the Florida Panthers) beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Friday and 10:00 a.m. ET Saturday.

In fact, NBC Sports Network will be broadcasting in the USA, and much has been made of the fact that Canadian analysts will be on the American broadcast this year, thanks to the new broadcasting deal struck beginning this season.

The broadcast will be on Sportsnet both days, though NBC will not be broadcasting Saturday’s Round 2 coverage. Sportsnet will be simulcasting the NHL Network’s broadcast.
