Friday night, the Laval Rocket opened their season by taking on the Providence Bruins.
The score showed the better team getting the result, as Laval defeated the P-Bruins 5-2. Logan Mailloux was in the mix all night long, getting involved on four of the five markers.
The Rocket started things off poorly, giving up two goals with half of the first period to go. Luckily, Mailloux would assist Adam Engstrom's goal to cut the lead in half.
In the second period, Mailloux assisted Filip Mesar game-tying marker, and added the eventual game-winning goal for himself. Later on, Mesar would assist Mailloux second goal of the evening, returning the favour.
A four-point performance to kick off the season from Logan Mailloux proves that there is pressure on Canadiens' defencemen Justin Barron and Arber Xhekaj to improve quickly, because if they don't, the Canadiens have no problem sending them to Laval and bringing up Mailloux; he's going to be knocking all season.
It won't be long before his NHL opportunity comes along. Until then, let's continue to enjoy his star power in the AHL.
