For the second season in a row, the Montreal Canadiens had players win awards at the end of the season. This past season, Nick Suzuki won the Selke Trophy, and Cole Caufield won the Lady Byng Trophy, with Lane Hutson winning the Calder Trophy the year before that.
For Suzuki, he has a great chance to repeat as the Selke Trophy. If he does, he will follow the trend of the two players to win it before him in the Florida Panthers' Aleksander Barkov and the Boston Bruins' Patrice Bergeron, as both won it back-to-back seasons.
However, the Canadiens' captain isn't the only one with a really good chance to win individual awards at the end of the season. These are four other players and the trophies they have a good chance to win in the 2026-27 season.
Cole Caufield - Rocket Richard Trophy
Cole Caufield came painfully close to being the first Montreal Canadiens player to win the award named after the famous Canadiens player, Maurice "Rocket" Richard. The trophy goes to the player who leads the league in goals, and Caufield finished with 51.
Unfortunately, Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon had two more and would take home the trophy.
Caufield has seen his scoring steadily increase going into this past season, from 23 in 2021-22 to 37 in 2024-25. He made a huge jump to 51 due to his scoring percentage increasing almost five points to 19.8%.
If he can maintain a shooting percentage close to 20%, he should have a great chance to lead the league in goals.
Lane Hutson - Norris Trophy
After an impressive rookie season with 66 points and winning the Calder Trophy, Lane Hutson only got better with 78 points and a +/- of +36. He did receive some votes for the Norris Trophy, finishing sixth in the league, but frankly, he should have gotten more consideration for the award.
The challenge is that this is one of the more competitive awards in the league, with so many great defensemen. The list includes Cale Makar, Rasmus Dahlin, Zach Werenski, Moritz Seider, and Quinn Hughes.
Hutson made a great case for himself last season, and if he plays at that level again, or even better, he has a real chance to be the first Canadiens player to win the Norris Trophy since P.K. Subban in 2013.
Jakub Dobes - Vezina Trophy
Jacob Fowler - Calder Trophy
The last two players are grouped together because it is unlikely for them both to win their respective awards. However, if one gets a majority of the starts, then they probably will be a contender.
Dobes took control of the starting goalie job midway through the season. He was excellent from that point on and into the playoffs and finished fourth in voting for the Calder Trophy. The Canadiens saw enough to give him a three-year extension this summer, and he should go into this season as the starter.
However, Montreal has arguably the best goalie prospect in the entire NHL in Jacob Fowler, and he made his NHL debut last season. He would go 9-6-2 with a save percentage of .908 and a goals against average of 2.43.
If Dobes remains the starter all season and plays as he did in the playoffs, he could find himself as a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. However, if that doesn't happen, then Jacob Fowler could be the one winning a trophy at the end of the season, and the Canadiens could have a player win the Calder Trophy for the second time in three seasons.
The Montreal Canadiens are trying to get back to the playoffs for a third straight season and if any of these players win these awards, they certainly will have a great chance to accomplish that.
