The Montreal Canadiens are one step closer to a major reveal. In a social media post on Wednesday, along with the rest of the NHL, they hinted at the Hometown Remix jerseys.
Featured in the post are what appears to be the fabric of a red jersey, the logo for the Hometown Remix series and a series of numbers.

It’s confused a lot of fans. Many of them opted for the Call of Duty Black Ops callback of asking Mason what the numbers mean. Sometimes, it's nice to see early 2010s culture live on in 2026.
Believe me, I also heavily overthought it, too. Turns out, it’s actually pretty simple.
The numbers line up with the alphabet (it works for both English and French). For example, G is the seventh letter of the alphabet. The letter O is the 15th letter. It’s saying “Go Habs Go.”
As to why this went this route, it's sort of a thing among NHL teams dropping previews. They're all doing some type of code. Multiple teams have used the Caesar cipher coding system, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning. The San Jose Sharks used Morse code.
Either way, good on them. This strategy was clever. They got a lot of people going nuts over this post.
No other information was included in the social media post. They haven’t posted any information online either. It’s simply a way to get people excited for what should be imminent.
Clues continue to drop for the Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens wore new practice uniforms recently. Naturally, there is automatic speculation as to whether this is a sneak peek at the new alternates.
It's possible. It's not confirmed. But practice uniforms have been used to make hints before.
It helps that all the colors line up with the graphic on social media. A red Habs jersey. Crazy, right? After some blue jerseys, you could argue that a new red jersey is refreshing.
With everything starting to drop, all we can do is continue to stay on the lookout for more hints and later the big reveal.
