Last season was memorable for several Montreal Canadiens forwards, particularly Nick Suzuki, who broke 100 points, and Cole Caufield, who had 50 goals. When looking ahead to the 2026-27 season, both of them could chase Canadiens' franchise records but also their own personal milestones.
However, they are not the only forwards on this team that might hit special marks in their careers for the upcoming season, and these are the milestones that are within reach for these five players.
Nick Suzuki - 600 career games and 500 career points
It feels like Nick Suzuki is just starting his career, but he has already played seven seasons with the Montreal Canadiens. He has had an impressive streak of five straight seasons without missing a game, and for that reason, he should play in his 600th career game this season.
Suzuki has played in 537 career games entering the 2026-27 season and will be reaching this milestone sometime around March. The other milestone, though, he should hit much earlier in the season, as he is only 24 points away from 500.
Suzuki has steadily improved his point total each season over the last five seasons, from 61 in 2021-22 to the 101 points he had last season. If he keeps that 100+ point pace this season, it wouldn't be surprising for him to have 500 career points sometime in November.
Cole Caufield - 400 career games and 200 career goals
Cole Caufield broke 50 goals last season for the first time in his career and has put himself in a position to break 200 career goals this season. He currently has 169 over six seasons and should reach that milestone in the second half of the upcoming season.
It wouldn't be surprising if Caufield reaches both milestones around the same time. He has played in 368 NHL games and the chance to reach 400 career games and score his 200th goal in that game would be a great story.
Juraj Slafkovsky - 300 career games and 200 career points
Another player who could reach both milestones around the same time, or potentially in the same game, is Juraj Slafkovsky. He is entering this season with 282 games played and 184 career points.
Last season, Slafkovsky had a breakout season and was playing almost at a point per game average with 73 points in 82 games. The Canadiens are going to need Slafkovsky to continue to play at that level for their team to be successful, and if he reaches this points milestone early in the season, it could be a good indication that he will continue to play like he did last season.
Josh Anderson - 700 career games
Alex Newhook - 400 career games
The last two players are Josh Anderson and Alex Newhook, as both players are close to reaching milestones for games played. Anderson is entering his seventh season with the Montreal Canadiens, and when adding in the six seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, he currently has 688 games and should break 700 career games early in the season.
Alex Newhook is another player who began his career outside of Montreal with the Colorado Avalanche. He played 159 games with Colorado and has 179 with Montreal, which has him on track to break 400 career games this season. It isn't necessarily a certainty like some of these other milestones, as Newhook has dealt with injuries in two of his three seasons with Montreal and needs 62 games this season to reach that milestone.
For the Montreal Canadiens, their goal as a team is clear and that is a Stanley Cup but along the way these forwards could reach some personal milestones that will be memorable.
