Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche opened up $4 million in cap space after the Mikko Rantanen trade, which gives them just enough space to add Savard. It has been a tough year for the Colorado defense, and their right side is looking thin after Cale Makar. Josh Manson hasn't had his best year, and would be better suited in a bottom-pairing role to offset the bad matchups.
Everyone is looking at the Avalanche as a team that could add a forward to diminsh the Rantanen trade aftermath, but they might use the additional space to add a defenseman and try to change up the free-flowing strategy a bit. They have to remember that Gabriel Landeskog might need to also get added to the roster at some point.
