Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have been completely decimated by injuries. They were not supposed to be very good this season because of some of those injuries, like the absence of Ryan Ellis and Sean Couturier for much of the season.

Joining them on the shelf for a long period of time are Cam Atkinson, Bobby Brink, and James van Riemsdyk which has them without four of their top nine forwards for an extended period. This should have put them way behind the eight ball on the season, but phenomenal goaltending from Carter Hart to start the season is helping them win games.

If there is anything a Habs fan can sympathise with, it is a team being carried by a great goaltender and needing some scoring help. Will the Flyers do what the Canadiens never really did and actually trade for a forward that help them score goals and win games in front of their star goalie?

Flyers head coach John Tortorella used to be behind the bench of the Columbus Blue Jackets when Josh Anderson broke out as an NHL power forward. The Flyers brass could be interested in reuniting the two if they are convinced by Tortorella who would really love a player like Anderson.

That is a huge contract to try and move out midseason, but the Canadiens could possibly do the Flyers a favour by taking back van Riemsdyk’s heavy contract to ensure a better return, much like when they landed Sean Monahan.
