Arizona Coyotes

Like usual, the Arizona Coyotes are a team made up of overpaid players they were paid to take. To borrow a phrase from Coach Reilly of Mighty Ducks fame, there are a few has-beens on the roster as well as a couple of never-was.

Everyone that the Coyotes acquire is more about adding up their pennies to get to the salary cap floor and never really about trying to win more hockey games. They lost Phil Kessel who actually had a decent season, and brought in Zach Kassian because the Edmonton Oilers couldn’t fit him under their salary cap anymore.

They are apparently still trying to trade star defenceman Jakob Chychrun because he is good at hockey. Why else would you be shopping a stud 24 year old defender who is signed to a fantastic contract for three more seasons?

Karel Vejmelka was signed to a three year contract extension after posting a GAA above 3 and a save percentage below .900. It’s going to be ugly in Arizona again, and it is almost unfathomable that the Canadiens finished below them last season. There is no way they will be able to do that again.
