Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators have plenty of cap space this season and are one of only a handful of playoff contenders that aren’t already using long term injured reserve just to stay under the cap threshold.

They don’t have any major holes in their lineup as they score plenty of goals, keep them out of their net at a respectable rate and have a great power play that is clicking at just about 25%. One spot where they could use an upgrade is on their penalty kill.

They are the 16th ranked team at killing penalties at just under 80%. Well, Joel Armia could certainly help out on the penalty kill.

There is an interesting fit for him at even strength as well, as he could slide onto an all-Finnish line with MIkael Granlund and Eeli Tolvanen. Luke Kunin woudl then move down the lineup and push former Canadiens first round pick Michael McCarron out of the lineup, but it would give the Press plenty more depth throughout.

Armia wouldn’t cost a lot because of his cap hit and lack of production this season. The Preds have the Los Angeles Kings third round pick as part of the package they acquired for trading Viktor Arvidsson. That would be enough for the Habs to clear out the cap space, and small enough that the Preds could roll the dice, hoping Armia can help them in a long playoff series with the St.Louis Blues or Colorado Avalanche.
