Let’s ADD It Up

The best thing about this game was the brand new line of Josh Anderson – Christian Dvorak – Jonathan Drouin (ADD line). The only goal for Montreal was scored by Jonathan Drouin and assisted by Josh Anderson and Brett Kulak (who was good since he was playing with Jeff Petry).

This line had a fantastic chance just seconds into the game, where Kulak took a point blank shot that was stopped by Jack Campbell, and Josh Anderson hit the post on the rebound. It wasn’t the only chance the line had in the period, and while they quieted down later in the game (as did the whole team), they were consistently the best line.

Christian Dvorak did not get on the scoresheet this game, and that’s too bad because he was pretty great. Dvorak performed well in the faceoff circle, winning 14 of 27 faceoffs, good for just over 50%, and playing well in front of the net. His biggest strength in the offensive zone is his awareness and ability to find the soft spots in coverage to score on rebounds and loose pucks. He was in those areas, but the chances just did not come to him.

This is a line that will be one to watch. Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield have garnered a lot of attention from Montreal fans, but if this line can keep this pace up, they can be considered Montreal’s top line if everything clicks perfectly.
