First season on the job and already a third trade in the books. On February 26th the Habs sent Erik Cole to the Dallas Stars and netted the returning Michael Ryder and a 3rd round pick.

Erik Cole won the hearts of many Montrealers after signing a 4-year contract as a free agent and scoring a career-high 35 goal campaign in 2011-2012. However, it was clear that once play resumed after the 12-13 lockout, Cole was heading towards a steady decline as at the deadline he only had 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 games.

Michael Ryder took full advantage of his second stint in Montreal by scoring 10 goals and 11 assists in 27 games. In a 5 game elimination against the Ottawa Senators, Ryder registered 1 goal and 1 assist.

Ryder then signed a 2 year $7 million deal with the New Jersey Devils before retiring.
