October 31: Brendan Gallagher vs Vegas Golden Knights, 1:58 to play in the 3rd period

On Halloween, the Habs traveled to Vegas to take on the Golden Knights. They were looking to wrap up a successful opening month of the season, but found themselves trailing 4-2 with just seven minutes to play in the third period.

An unassisted goal from Tomas Tatar would pull them within one with 6:27 to go. Then, with just over two minutes left, they pulled Keith Kinkaid in favour of an extra attacker for the last couple of minutes of play.

The Habs got the puck deep in Vegas end and Joel Armia fired a pass to Gallagher who was cutting to the net. The puck deflected off his skate and bounced behind Marc Andre Fleury to tie the game and send it to overtime, ensuring the Canadiens would escape with at least one point in a game they trailed by two with seven minutes left.

On the first shift of the overtime period, Max Domi got loose in the Golden Knights zone and a perfect pass from Petry put him in alone on Fleury. Domi fired the puck five hole and gave the Habs their second point in the standings, when it seemed like they would be heading home with none.
