Second Line

. ALEX GALCHENYUK. LW. Galchenyuk finished fourth among Habs forwards in points over the past decade with 255 in 418 career games in Montreal. He didn’t exactly live up to the “first line center” hype that came with him being drafted third overall in 2012, but he did have a 20 goal season in 2015-16..

. . DAVID DESHARNAIS. C. Desharnais was never good enough to be a first line center in the NHL, but the Habs asked him to do that for about half the decade. He had 251 points in 435 games and was the team’s highest scoring center in 2011-12 and 2013-14. He maxed out at 60 points in 2011-12 with Max Pacioretty and Erik Cole on his wings.

RW. Gionta had the difficult task of taking over from fan favourite Saku Koivu as the team’s captain. He responded by leading the team in goals during his first two seasons in Montreal and finished his Habs tenure with 88 goals and 68 assists for 156 points in 281 games. He battled through injuries in a few postseasons, but scored 28 points in 45 playoff games with the Canadiens.. . . BRIAN GIONTA

Second Defence Pairing

LD. Josh Gorges played nearly half the decade in Montreal and played a big role on some overachieving teams early on. He was often Subban’s partner and would be asked to play the toughest competition every night. He played 41 postseason games and had the fourth most playoff ice time of any Habs in the decade. He was a big reason the Canadiens made it to the Eastern Conference Final in 2010.. . . JOSH GORGES

RD. Petry was acquired at the trade deadline in 2015 so he played almost exactly half the decade in Montreal. He has proven to be an excellent second pairing defender, contributing at both ends of the ice. His 353 games with the Habs rank fourth among defenders and his 163 points are third.. . . JEFF PETRY
