There is still something that has stuck with me since the decision was made. What if there is more to this story? This is where the tin-foil hat comes on because there is a possibility the Montreal Canadiens are showcasing Cayden Primeau to the rest of the NHL. For what, you may ask? Perhaps for a superstar forward who is in a UFA year and eager to switch teams. Of course, I’m talking about Taylor Hall.

Several hockey minds believe the Montreal Canadiens will be one of the teams in on Taylor Hall once trade talks pick up. He may not be producing at the same pace as he did during his Hart season, but he is leading the New Jersey Devils in scoring with four goals and 17 assists in 26 games.

Trending. An open letter to Bergevin and the Habs. light

Whatever it ends up being, it’s going to be a massive trade. The panel on Saturday night’s headlines pinpointed Montreal as one of the interested teams, while Pierre Lebrun on Twitter feels there will be a number of conditions on the deal.

The possibility of multiple firsts or top prospects was also a discussion point.

The Montreal Canadiens will have money coming off the table this season anyway, but Marc Bergevin doesn’t make a trade for Taylor Hall unless he’s sure he can sign him. Think of the Jonathan Drouin trade. The Habs acquired the forward then immediately inked him to a long-term contract.

If I’m Ray Shero, and I want prospects for Hall and Montreal is calling, I look at what my organization does and doesn’t have.
