Brandon:  If the team can stay healthy, consistent, and all 4 lines contribute throughout the season. The 4 defensive pairings help Price, backup goalie TBD. The powerplay stays hot, consistent. Bergevin can find more defenceman like Gardiner, forward like Poehling. I feel like the team can contend for Stanley Cup. I feel like maybe within year or two, they will get to that point.

This season I believe and feel like they can make the playoffs. Winning a Stanley Cup I think is out of the question this season. Until we get those solid player pieces like Laine, Aho. We will have to wait and see.

Sebastian: If you had asked me two years ago, I’d have said yes. However, with the excellent drafting since then, I do not believe that the Price/Weber window is when the Habs have to win. I expect the team to be in a much better place five years from now than it is in now despite the ageing netminder and defensive stalwart.

I believe that the torch will be passed on to the new generation of stars like Domi, KK, Caufield, Suzuki, Romanov and Primeau. I am not saying the Habs have no chance at winning in the future. However, I’d bet the cup has a higher chance of returning to Montreal beyond the Price-Weber window.

Joshua Delorme: I don’t think that the team, as it stands right now, is in a position to consider itself Stanley Cup contenders. The team does have a lot of nice pieces, but there are still a few holes that need to be filled before Marc Bergevin, and his management staff can consider their team contenders. I have made no secret of the fact that I believe this team still needs to add a top-4 defenceman and a top-6 scoring winger to help round out the roster.

As long as management continues to fail to fill these holes on the roster, I don’t think any fan can realistically expect this team to compete and contend for the Stanley Cup for a few years. I believe this team is in a window to contend for the playoffs, but I don’t think this team can ever be considered a favourite to win or compete for the Cup.
