It took nearly three minutes in the second to do it. There wasn’t much of a difference in the sequence. Andrew Shaw entered the zone with the puck and sent it over to Gallagher in the middle of the ice. Gallagher got the puck on his forehand, went to his backhand on Elliott’s right and fired top shelf to Elliott’s left for his 26th and first career hat-trick.
Tomas Tatar chose to join in on the fun proving his scoring consistency true for the Habs. Max Domi won a battle along the boards behind the net against Wayne Simmonds. He managed to send the puck to Tatar in the slot sending a shot top right over Elliott for the team’s fifth goal of the game.
That was Tatar’s 20th of the season, and the fifth time in a row he put up at least that much. Domi hit a milestone as well with the assist on the goal setting a new career high in points at 53.
Carey Price, as usual, was a big part of the victory as well. The Flyers had their chances to score and converted on one of them via Michael Ruffl, but it didn’t amount to anything by the final buzzer. A highlight was his stop on James van Riemsdyk, who is known for his scoring in tight though, his save on Scott Laughton was something special as well.
In total, the 31-year-old made 29 saves (.967 save percentage) for his 311th win, three back of Jacques Plante to tie the most in franchise history by a goaltender.
