The Montreal Canadiens are continuing to set records of the dark variety with their performance this season, but there’s still light at the end of the tunnel.

Habsfan vs. Leafsfan – Season 2 Episode 26 (Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs).

Episodes of Habsfan vs. Leafsfan have been pretty interesting recently, haven’t they? You’d expect Shapiro and Rehman to be at each other’s throats on a daily basis, which could be going on behind the scenes, but both seem moderately happy. It makes sense for Shapiro as the Leafs are getting ready for back-to-back appearances in the playoffs this season, but the Habs have been horrible. However, the possibility of adding Rasmus Dahlin to the fold are bringing a series of grins to Rehman’s face.

There may be something else making Shapiro happy though. His team is going to go through some kind of management change, and it looks like Kyle Dubas will be the man to take over for veteran general manager Lou Lamoriello. But what is the dynamic between the two anyway? HvL has the answers there with some exclusive audio (0:00).

More from Editorials

Up next was the information station that is the Sports Desk bringing news from around the NHL this week (4:12). Some of the topics on deck were tracking Brad Marchand‘s season with the power of the weasel gene, Geoff Molson’s continued support in Marc Bergevin and the rest of the Montreal Canadiens, and why the Habs’ interest in John Tavares took a hit.

The banter and rants from either side made it’s return to the HvL lineup to discuss former coaches for the Habs and Leafs and some of the upcoming matchups in the playoffs (8:39). Shapiro took his solo segment to dive into the hurdle that will be the first round for the Toronto Maple Leafs (17:32). Is it the stingy defence and heavy force that is the Boston Bruins or the deadly skill that is the Tampa Bay Lightning?

Remember when I said that Rehman seemed happier? His rant on the Habs and their usage of Carey Price may change that sentiment (19:05). Fans can understand why Price would want to return to the lineup, but strapping up for the remaining games of the season which are meaningless, doesn’t make any sense.
