Tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers will be the final Montreal Canadiens game of 2017. Can they end the year on a high note?
2017 was an interesting time for the Montreal Canadiens. It started with the Habs continuing their domination of the Atlantic Division stretching on to another first-round exit in the playoffs. After 36 games in this season, the Habs are in a completely different position, and 2018 doesn’t look to be any better.
The seven-game road trip has been a decent indicator of how Montreal has been so far. The NHL 100 Classic had nothing going for it besides turnovers and a lot of puck watching. Vancouver was one of the Habs’ most exciting but stressful games as both teams combined for 12 goals.
The Calgary game had to have been one of the team’s best performances of the season as it took more than Carey Price for them to get the win. Montreal was outplayed in Edmonton last Friday giving the team way too many opportunities to score.

Carolina and Tampa Bay were kind of similar in that the Habs kept up, but defensive breakdowns and unawareness cost them the two points. Another thing they had in common was that Karl Alzner didn’t look good at all in either of them.
It makes you wonder what Habs team we’ll see against the Panthers? Do they get dominated or fight until the final buzzer. Do they get the early lead and hold on to it or try to battle back after allowing two or three goals? You can never really tell with this team anymore.
