Montreal Canadiens HvL (S2E14): Captain Pacioretty and Jets Jamie Thomas

Ari and Kamal are here again for Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs talk, in particular, Max Pacioretty, but also have Jamie Thomas for Winnipeg Jets talk.

Habsfan vs. Leafsfan – Season 2 Episode 14 (Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs).

If you didn’t know by now, Habsfan vs. Leafsfan is also in the movie business. Their first movie, “Mike Babcock: The Untouchable One,” was a great hit and they’re back with a sequel. Episode 14 of HvL opens with an exclusive trailer to, “Max Pacioretty: The Unheralded One” (0:00). A film about a man who does all that he for the Habs, but is always the first to be criticized.

In more ways than one, you can’t blame the Habs fanbase for being hard on Pacioretty considering he’s the captain. It isn’t just in Montreal; the Toronto Maple Leafs also had years of making Mats Sundin a chew toy in some regards. The talk of leadership brings the boys to dive into the recent Hockey Hall of Fame class such as Dave Anderchyuck, Paul Kariya, and Mark Recchi (2:17).

The Leafs have been without their best player in Auston Matthews for quite some time and have been able to string together wins nonetheless. Ari goes into the significance of this and what it can mean for the future of the team as the season continues (11:18).

Kamal included in a post for A Winning Habit not too long ago what kind of stretch the Habs will need to break out of this hole, and they’ve done well for themselves since. However, the quality of competition is something that fans have been making a note of. Kamal argues though that for the team to be taken seriously, it’ll be more important to beat the high caliber teams (12:41).

Episode 14 finished off with a trifecta of interviews. Jamie Thomas (@JamieThomasTV) jumped on the hotline to discuss the Winnipeg Jets and whether Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele, and Connor Hellebuyck can get them back to the playoffs (13:55). Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but HvL has a new affiliate, and the boys had site expert Dave Stevenson (@baltimoredavey) from Puck Prose (@Puck_Prose) to talk about surprises around the league (23:30). Finally, I hoped on for some random banter on the Leafs and Habs (26:45). Transformers was referenced, so that was fun.
