The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs have switched trajectories, and you can imagine how Ari and Kamal are handling it in this week’s episode.

Habsfan vs. Leafsfan – Season 2 Episode 13 (Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs).

The NHL is a goofy place. In particular, the opening weeks of the NHL is a goofy place. At one point the team you follow can be on the rise, but then falter later on. Remember when the Habs were struggling and the Leafs were scoring their brains out? If you don’t, HvL has a time travel mechanism you can make use of (0:00).

All jokes aside, it is interesting to see how things are playing out. Kamal’s call of the ‘Blue and White’ disease may be coming to fruition to Ari’s dismay (2:15). It could get even worse for them considering the injury to star center Auston Matthews.

More from Editorials

On a more positive note, the Habs have had Brendan Gallagher, Andrew Shaw, and Charlie Lindgren to help come out of the woodwork and help the team break out of their slump. Three wins in the last four games? That’s what you need.

Although the team will be without Matthews, Ari mentions that there are others who can keep the team afloat (14:13). Offence and defence. Kamal goes into what has been working well for the Habs as of late that have caused them to be so successful (15:50). A lot of different elements are coming together, and if they keep this up, a playoff spot won’t sound as crazy as it did a few weeks ago.

Finally, Ari sat down with a familiar face (17:52). Auston Owens (@_AustinOwens) has had his name on A Winning Habit before and he joined the podcast to talk about go into both teams, how they’ve faired, and what they will do moving forward.
