Habsfan vs. Leafsfan had its first live round table with Andrew Berkshire breaking down the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Habsfan vs. Leafsfan November 1st Roundtable (Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs).

This is something new from the podcast. Episodes and sketches will always be favourites, but it’s never a bad idea to change things up. HvL had its first of many live roundtables with off the cuff hockey talk about the Habs and Leafs. Co-hosts Ari Shapiro and Kamal Rehman always have great insight, but Sportsnet’s Andrew Berkshire (@AndrewBerkshire) and yours truly (@OLW93) joined the table as well.

Some of the things discussed: What’s changed in the current Leafs/Habs paradigm (2:15), can the Maple Leafs get by with their current six defensemen (5:55), on their relative value and the challenge of finding a true shutdown defenseman (11:52), and which players on the Montreal Canadiens might rise above the current group to help salvage their season (16:11).

Additionally, what the panel thinks the Canadiens will end up doing if they continue struggling in November (23:22), what if Patrik Laine had ended up in Toronto and Auston Matthews in Winnipeg (33:09), could the Maple Leafs make a blockbuster trade if it means creating an extended playoff run (38:41), how do you measure Jonathan Drouin‘s season as a baseline of success against Mikhail Sergachev (51:29), and what it would take for the Leafs to be considered true Stanley Cup contenders (55:10).

Follow @HabsvsLeafs and co-hosts Ari Shapiro (@ari_shapiro) and Kamal Rehman (@kamalrehman10), and look for new episodes as the season continues.
