Montreal Canadiens Prospect Tracker: Poehling and Evans at the Top
This week for some of the Montreal Canadiens prospects wasn’t as flashy as last week, but Ryan Poehling and Jake Evans are continuing to soar.
We’re almost a month through the majority of these hockey seasons, but each week Montreal Canadiens fans are getting surprised by another prospect. It’s time to check out what they’ve been up to this week.
Week of October 20th – 26th
Will Bitten
It’s been a tough stretch for the Hamilton Bulldogs as they’ve lost all three of their games this week including a 6-0 blowout to Barrie. Bitten hasn’t been able to do much either putting up 2 only assists in the Bulldogs’ overtime loss to the 67’s.
Season Totals: 3 goals 12 assists
Michael Pezzetta
Pezzetta has slowly become a leader both on and off the ice. He opened the scoring against the Sarnia Sting and had an assist to go with it. In Sudbury’s second game of the week, Pezzetta dropped the gloves in the first 12 seconds to set the tone. You could say that was the beginning of their 3-2 win.
The Wolves have seemed to notice Pezzetta’s leadership as well as they named him the 42nd captain in team history on Thursday.
Season Totals: 4 goals 7 assists

Scott Walford
This week could’ve ended worse for Walford. He took a stick to the eye against the Regina Pats and had to leave the game. Fortunately, he was able to stay in the lineup for the Royals’ next three games. Walford was pointless in them and a combined -3.
Season Totals: 6 assists
Cale Fleury
The 2017 3rd round pick had his best offensive week of the season. Kootenay was shelved 11-1 to Medicine Hat, but Fleury was only on the ice for two goals against. He stood the next game with two goals. The first was a blast off the power play while the second was redirected off a Swift Current player. Kootenay would lose their next game 6-3, but Fleury had two assists.
Season Totals: 3 goals 3 assists
Jarret Tyszka
Tyszka was another Montreal Canadiens prospect that had to leave a game early. He’s not expected to miss time however and will most likely be playing Friday against Kootenay (Tyszka vs Fleury!). Tsyzka was pointless in the two games played.
Season Totals: 7 assists
Lukas Vejdemo
Djurgården got the win against Orebro this week. Vejdemo didn’t get a point from his six shots, but saw his ice time get bumped up to 20 minutes.
Season Total: 4 goals 3 assists
Arvid Henrikson
The 2016 7th round pick spend time on the bottom pair for the first time this season as Orebro (J20) lost a close game to HV71 4-3.
Joni Ikonen
It doesn’t look like it’s working for Ikonen in KalPa. He’s continuing to hover around the nine minute mark in terms of ice time and has generated little offence.
Season Total: 1 assist
Ryan Poehling
Poehling has continued to have an excellent start to his season. St. Cloud State won both of their games against Boston College. Poehling had a goal and three assists including the game winner on Saturday.
Season Total: 2 goals 6 assists
Cayden Primeau
Northeastern University played two games last weekend, but Primeau only played in one of them. He didn’t get much action as Quinnipac only had 15 shots. You can guess that his save percentage didn’t look too good considering he game up six goals.
Season Total: 2.97 (goals against average) .850 (save percent average)
Nikolas Koberstein
Koberstein was one of the players on Alaska that you didn’t notice, and that’s a good thing. He was pointless in the team’s two wins, but was making the right plays and being responsible on both ends of the ice.
Season Total: 1 assist
Jake Evans
Senior year is looking pretty good for Evans. He finished off the Prospect Tracker this week with four assists in Notre Dame’s 6-4 loss. Ya, Evans assisted on every goal the team had being an integral part to the potential comeback.
Season Total: 3 goals 9 assists
Next: Snake Bitten Hudon and Lehkonen
