Ari Shapiro and Kamal Rehman dive into the rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams have warts, whose lasts longers?

Habsfan vs Leafsfan – Season 2 Episode 9 (Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs).

Even though they haven’t played enough meaningful games, there is no historical rivalry than the Habs and the Leafs. The feud has given fans great hockey, epic pump up videos and a pretty entertaining podcast.

There is a slight double standard around the Habs at the moment. Alex Galchenyuk has been criticized for not looking engaged at times and turning pucks over. Jonathan Drouin isn’t innocent from this but fans don’t seem to notice. The same goes for car accidents. The podcast caught a police report recording from an incident involving the two Habs stars (0:00). Guess where the finger was pointed?

It’s obvious that the Saturday night game was the biggest “5th game of the season” in a long time. The boys gave their thoughts ahead of the matchup and the losing streak as a whole (2:11). Who gets the blame? Will special teams show up? What matchups will bring fans out of their seats?

Kamal took the time to statistically look at why that game was so important (15:01). It’s not just because of the present but also for what is set to come in the future for the Montreal Canadiens. What’s coming for them exactly? I’ll give you a hint, it’s hot and rhymes with Dalinornia Moad Rip.

Frederik Andersen hasn’t been at his best for the Leafs as of late (16:30). It’s an area of the line-up that is sensitive in the fanbase and for the team to have success, he’ll need to improve.

The boys wrap things up with an interview with Andrew Boehmer (@acboehmer). Although he writes for the other side of the rivalry, he has some solid insight on hockey.
