Ari Shapiro (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Kamal Rehman (Montreal Canadiens) are getting ready for the real battle as their two teams are set to face off.

Habsfan vs Leafsfan – Season 2 Episode 8 (Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs).

This is it. THIS IS IT! After this weekend, the name Habsfan vs Leafsfan will no longer only be a name. After Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs will have played their first game against each other of the season. The podcast after that will be something else, but this week’s gets the fans ready for the battle.

Before all that, if you feel the need to want to buy an Auston Matthews jersey, maybe you lost a bet or something who knows, the boys have a promotion for you (0:00).

Next up was a whole slew of things. Of course at the forefront was a preview for the game (1:30). In terms of the Habs, will the power play take a step going 0/14 in their first four games, where do Alex Galchenyuk and Jonathan Drouin stand, and a more controversial topic, what will it take for Marc Bergevin to get fired? Mitch Marner and Frederik Andersen‘s ability to bounce back was dealt with on the Leafs side.

Of course you can’t leave out talking about one of the league’s hottest teams in the Vegas Golden Knights. James Neal has been a proven to be a great pick up at Expansion, can he keep this up?

The loss against New Jersey on Wednesday was the definition of a trap game. However, Ari argues as to why that needed to happen (15:28). Outscoring your opponent doesn’t work all the time.

Kamal went more to the realm of the stats for his rant (17:15). Based on the pace the Montreal Canadiens have played at since Claude Julien took over, including last season, there’s a winning percentage that the team needs to meet to make the playoffs. Can they do it? This game against the Leafs is the beginning of that new journey.
