The preseason is almost done and boy do the boys have a lot to talk about. To start off, have you always noticed how passive aggressive some NHL coaches can be? Their team will have a pretty bad game, but they sometimes manage to have these tame answers.
Claude Julien had an opportunity to be brutally honest after the team’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. Thankfully, the podcast was able to translate what the head coach actually meant (0:00).

The feel around the Montreal Canadiens may be a lighter after their win Friday night. Considering how concerned the fans and media were about the preseason record, Ari and Kamal discuss how impactful the magnifying glass is on the team (2:45). Perhaps it might even play a role in attracting free agents. Many believe that the market in Toronto is hard to play in, Montreal’s may not be too far off.
Building a blue-line isn’t easy in the NHL. It takes drafts and some patients with young players, and Ari dives into the challenge the Leafs will face in that department (8:50).
“It’s only preseason”, that’s a line used by many during Montreal’s “struggles”. Kamal acknowledges this, but is still concerned on some of the aspects of the game (10:49). However the concern isn’t around the number goals scored or given up, but how the young players have done.
To finish things off, Vegas Golden Knights site expert Michael Joubran (@FSVegasHockey) came on to talk about what’s going on with the them. Expectations are low considering they’re an expansion team, but there could still be some interesting things that happen this season.
