From now on, we will be tracking what the Montreal Canadiens prospects have been doing each week in something called Future Fridays.

Fans of the Montreal Canadiens always want to be on top of the team. Not just the main club, but for the other players in the organization. We started tracking some of the prospects in a post last Friday, and thought it would be a good idea to make it a weekly thing. Thus the creation of Future Fridays.

Every Friday, we’ll be giving Habs fans updates on how the prospects in the organization. It’ll be easy to see how some of them will be doing pretty soon. The Rookie Tournament is set to start this weekend at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.

However, after that it may be difficult to track how well they’re doing with their respective teams. Especially those who are playing in European Leagues. This is where we come in. We’ll be doing our best all season long to provide Montreal Canadiens fans with that information.

Now to the updates.

Week of September 2nd-7th

The Ontario Hockey League took a break and hasn’t had a game since the 1st. Therefore, Victor Mete and William Bitten haven’t played. Don’t worry though, Habs fans will be able to see them both at the first rookie game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Josh Brook

The 2017 2nd round pick had a solid outing for Moose Jaw against the Regina Pats. He finished the game with an assist on the power play.

One thing Habs fans will take interest in, was that the Warriors were running the 4-1 model on the man advantage, and Brook was the lone defenceman on the blue-line. It’s only a preseason game, but this continuing into the regular season would do wonders for his development.

Scott Walford

Walford had the best night offensively among Montreal Canadiens draft picks. He finished the game with two helpers for the Victoria Royals. The first was the lone assist on the team’s first goal of the game to cut into Kelowna’s then 3-1 lead. The second came off the power play to bring the Royal’s within two.

More from Prospects

Jarret Tyszka

The week didn’t go as well for Tyszka. The 2017 5th round pick played in one of the two games Seattle had and finished with a single assist.

Lukas Vejdemo

Djurgårdens IF has been taking part in a couple of friendly matches ahead of the actual exhibition games. Vejdemo has actually been one of the team’s better forwards in the last two. The center started out on the fourth line in the game against Luleå. He played very well including having the primary assist in the game tying goal.

The 2015 3rd round pick started the next game on the third line. He didn’t put up any points, but he had some quality chances.
