
Round Two / Pick 43 – P.K. Subban / D / Belleville Bulls (OHL)
Now, to one of the best picks of the last decade. Regardless of what you think of the player or the person, P.K. Subban was a huge get for the Habs in the second round of the NHL draft.
After putting up great numbers for the Belleville Bulls over his CHL career, Subban grabbed everyone’s attention at the 2009 World Junior Championships.
The defender posted nine points in six games while helping Canada to another gold medal. From then on, the hype for the defender kept rising.
Subban fell to the Habs in the second round and immediately made the jump to the pros. He made his NHL debut in 2009-10 for the Canadiens but only played two games for the team that season. He spent the majority of the year with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
After one year in the AHL, Subban came up to the Habs full time. In his first three NHL seasons, Subban averaged over 20 minutes a game and scored over 30 points.
His production took a big jump during the 2013-14 year, where he scored 53 points. Subban had his best statistical season a year later when he set career highs in goals and points with 15 and 60 respectively.
