4. Anton Stralman – Defence

Anton Stralman is a right shot defenseman who had an exceptional year with the New York Rangers, and helped carry them to the Stanley Cup Final. He played a great role on a shutdown pairing with Marc Staal, and was insulated by the exceptional top pairing of Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi.

If the rumors are true, and Josh Gorges finds himself leaving town in the coming days, Stralman would be an excellent replacement, as he is a good penalty killer and shot blocker, but also plays the right side where the Canadiens only have Subban at the moment.

Again, the problem with Stralman is that he will demand a hefty price tag thanks to a weak defense market this afternoon, and that may be too much for the Canadiens to commit to for the future with their salary structure in question.

Also, Stralman kind of came out of nowhere this season, and you have to worry about paying a one hit wonder for the next four seasons.
