The defensive potential of the Monteal Canadiens

The Canadiens' roster is somewhat refreshed and will go into this upcoming season with a certain expectation to start their respective campaign. That goal will be to take charge of the win column by playing a chess-like game against their opponents to fine-tune their postseason hopes.

Especially, the defensive core of the team and its ability to compete night in and night out will define the Canadiens' team as a dominant force in the Eastern Conference.

When I say dominant, it is because this team is poised to break out, but how they play the game to their advantage will be because of the defensive depth acquired by the GM and management. The top-four formation has a promising outlook of dominance in particular.

To be precise, you have four defensive players who possess the skill to score goals and make high-percentage plays in games that will take the win. The attributes attached are in favour of the Habs, with speed and size.

The skill level is the most important aspect of the crucial Montreal Canadiens' defensive system. This team is well-equipped with well-conditioned minds to complement the stick-handling approach.

The offence will be just as potent; however, the defence will be the fury of the team. Taking charge in the neutral zone and shutting down plays in the middle. The battle against the boards will be intense, where the defensive pairings will look to play a complete shutdown game in most cases.

The Habs have a bright future, complementing GM Kent's work, with Hughes, and a strong prospect pool, as well as upcoming players and veterans on the team. The Canadiens will be quite the team to play against, as they play a chess-like game with checkmate at the end in most games.

The defensive core of the Montreal Canadiens

Left Handed Defenseman-Kaiden Guhle

He is the second-tallest defenceman on the top-four line and is a promising player to lace up the skates. He will lead the charge with his newly acquired defenseman and work the system in favour of winning battles from the boards to the neutral zone while also shutting down the middle.

Right Handed Defenseman-Noah Dobson

The newly acquired defenseman will be a force to be reckoned with, being the tallest of the defensemen in the top-four lineup. This will help maintain the physicality in favour of the Habs' fore-check and defensive game.

Left Handed Defenseman-Lane Hutson

Lane Hutson's breakout year in his rookie season was the best outlook the Montreal Canadiens team received last year, due to the implications the young man has for the Habs squad to excel in the respective game.

Right Handed Defense-Jayden Struble

Struble is another promising defenseman with size and grit to his game, along with all four defensemen, who possess elements that give them a favourable advantage against their opponents, to say the least.
