Montreal Canadiens announce Training Camp Roster
The Montreal Canadiens will start training camp with 59 players battling for a spot.
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that 59 players will participate in the team’s 2024 training camp. The camp opens on Wednesday, September 18 at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard with physical tests and medical examinations. It runs until Monday, October 7 in preparation for the season opener on October 9 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.
The 59 players include 35 forwards, 17 defensemen, and seven goaltenders. 43 players have NHL contracts and 12 players have AHL contracts. Three players were also invited on a tryout and one isn't signed.
The 15 players invited to camp who aren't under an NHL contract are Vincent Arseneau, Alex Beaucage, Laurent Dauphin, Israel Mianscum, Logan Nijhoff, Jakov Novak, Charles Savoie, Zackary Hayes, Joshua Jacobs, Chris Jandric, Simon Motew, Vincent Sevigny, Tyler Wotherspoon, Luke Cavallin, and Hunter Jones.
Head coach Martin St. Louis and his assistants Roger Grillo, Trevor Letowski, Stéphane Robidas, and Éric Raymond will lead practices, games, and on-ice evaluations. The Laval Rocket coaching staff led by head coach Pascal Vincent and assistants Daniel Jacob, Martin Laperrière, and Marco Marciano will also assist St. Louis.
Vincent will get a good first look at some of the AHL-destined players, as it is his first year in the organization. Vincent and his staff can use it as an extended AHL camp to help better prepare for the 2024-25 season. He hopes this group of players can help the team return to the postseason after a two-year absence.
