The Montreal Canadiens won't have the rookie goaltender that everyone wants to see at this camp. However, there will be plenty of talent there to keep fans happy. The fans will have to wait to see Jacob Fowler at a Canadiens training camp, but for now, let's look at the two goaltenders who they will have in the rookie portion of the week before the veterans come to town.

Quentin Richard was the 128th overall pick by the Canadiens in the 2023 NHL Draft. He had a stellar first season in the QMJHL before his draft, owning a 14-4-0 record with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

The 2023-24 season didn't go as well, losing 14 of 26 games for the Remparts and a goals-against average above 3. He regained some form after a trade to the Rimouski Oceanic and will play the 2024-25 season with them.

Samuel Richard

Samuel Richard has had an interesting path to the Canadiens rookie camp. He played three years in the QMJHL with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, before moving on to play in USports with the University of New Brunswick. If you are unfamiliar with Canadian University Hockey, UNB is the cream of the crop but there aren't many players who leave this league to play in the NHL.

That changed in 2022-23, when Richard joined the Toronto Maple Leafs for a game at Madison Square Garden. Richard believed it'd be the pinnacle of his hockey career, but the 2023-24 season with UNB may come close. The team had a perfect season, going undefeated to win the Canadian National Championship. Richard was a star, owning a 16-0-0 record with a 1.87 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
