Nick Suzuki in the consideration for Canada Four Nations roster

Nick Suzuki has been a pillar of consistency for the Montreal Canadiens, and Team Canada's management group has been strongly considering adding him to the group.

The Montreal Canadiens have the opportunity to send a couple of their top players off to play in the Four Nations Faceoff.

Set to start in February 2025 - the tournament will feature Team Canada, the United States, Finland and Sweden. I wrote about Cole Caufield being a possible option for the Americans, and how I think he would be a great option. But now there was news that emerged about Habs captain Nick Suzuki being a viable option for the Canadian roster.

Nick Suzuki's name was brought up in the same conversation as Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny, St Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas and Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson. TSN hockey analyst Chris Johnston has a source that confirmed this to him. I don't think it should come as any surprise, it sure isn't to the Canadiens fanbase.

But with All-Star appearances over the last three seasons, it's pretty clear that Suzuki is a rising star in the league. He doesn't need an invite to cement him as one of the top Canadian players in the National Hockey League. But it would certainly go a long way in increasing his confidence and drawing the Habs fanbase's attention to the tournament.

Cole Caufield versus Nick Suzuki?

I don't think that anybody will argue that watching Suzuki and Cole Caufield play together for the Canadiens is a joy. But what if we could watch them face off against one another for their respective countries? I don't think that this is all that crazy to consider, as both players would be huge additions to their respective country's roster.

Both players practice against one another, but there is a different level of competitiveness that will be drawn from each player in a head-to-head matchup. On top of that, it's pretty easy to get into the mindset of going to battle with one player in the red and white with the maple leaf and the other in the blue, red and white with the stars and stripes.

With no Team Slovakia, there won't be a chance for Juraj Slafkovsky to be a part of the fun, but I expect that Suzuki and Caufield would be enough to get fans excited. The pair represent a couple of the Habs' most promising offensive weapons and pillars for the rebuild. Suzuki, the two-way centre, who doubles as an offensive weapon and Caufield, the sniper and playmaker.

There is no official confirmation that either of them will play for their countries, but with a chance; why not get excited about the potential matchup.
