One of the reasons the Montreal Canadiens have been able to go on the playoff run that they have is because of Jakub Dobes. The rookie goaltender has started every game for the Canadiens in these playoffs, and entering Game 2, he had a save percentage of .911 and a goals against average of 2.48.
Even though Dobes is just starting his NHL career, he continues to make history and incredible plays in the crease. One of those plays came in Game 2 against the Hurricanes on what was one of the more bizarre saves a goalie has had to make.
In the second period, Dobes went behind the net to move the puck, and as he did, the stick of the Hurricanes player would get stuck between his skate and his pad. Unfortunately, the Hurricanes would end up getting the puck, and Dobes had to scramble back to the net with the stick still stuck in his pads.
The good news is the shot went wide, and it gave Dobes enough time to grab the stick and dislodge it from his pad.

Jakub Dobes may be a rookie but has played like a veteran in these playoffs
Dobes didn't take over being the starter until midway through the regular season, but was excellent down the stretch and into these playoffs. He has had to make starts twice in a Game 7 on the road and in both games outplayed the veteran goaltenders Andrei Vasilevsky of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen of the Buffalo Sabres.
It has not only been great but historic as he is only one of three goalies to win seven of nine road games in the playoffs as a rookie. Dobes has joined Ron Hextall, who did it in 1987, and Jordan Binnington, who achieved that feat in 2019.
The moment has not been too big for the goalie, and even when there is chaos, he has remained composed and made the saves when needed.
It doesn't matter what teams are throwing at Dobes, whether it is pucks or sticks, the Montreal Canadiens goalie can't be rattled as he showed in Game 2.
