The Montreal Canadiens held on to the second wild card position after their third-period comeback against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. The Canadiens couldn't claim the second point in overtime, but one point was enough to hold the spot, as they also have two games in hand. The St. Louis Blues are in a similar position, as they are holding on to the second wild card position in the Western Conference and need a win just as much as the Canadiens. It's a crucial four-game road trip for Montreal, as they can't afford to return to the Bell Centre with a losing record.

The Canadiens will likely get Kaiden Guhle back in the lineup at some point on the road trip. He took the flight with the team on Monday, but he could try to skate a couple more times before playing a game. It'd be more likely to see him on Thursday or Saturday. However, if Guhle feels like he is ready on Tuesday, Martin St. Louis will have a tough decision to make. The blue line has been playing well, but one of their stalwarts must sit in the press box unless they go 11 and 7.

Sam Montembeault will get the start again on Tuesday night. They have been riding the hot hand, but you must believe Jakub Dobes will have to shoulder some of the load down the stretch. It was a hot start for Dobes, but he has been struggling lately. Montembeault has been one of the best goaltenders in the league statistically since the 4 Nations Face-Off, but some goals allowed in recent games have left fans with a sour taste in their mouths.

I had to do a double take when I seen the stat, but Christian Dvorak is leading the team in points over the last five games. The Canadiens need their depth scoring to step up when the first line falters, and Dvorak has been there to pick up the pieces. They'll need to shut down Dylan Holloway for the Blues, as the 2024 offseason offer sheet has nine points over the Blues' last five games.
