The schedule makers didn't do the Montreal Canadiens any favors when they scheduled their game against the Nashville Predators on Sunday evening. The Canadiens played a hard fought game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night after going behind early, and then had to board a plane to head south to Nashville for game that started less than 24 hours later. The Canadiens finish this game in Nashville and then have to return for a game on Tuesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.
How to Watch Montreal Canadiens vs. Nashville Predators

The same old heroes were contributing to the Canadiens on Saturday night against the Flyers. The third line didn't have Josh Anderson in the lineup, but after falling behind 1-0 in the first period, Brendan Gallagher tied the game a little over a minute into the third period, off an assist from Christian Dvorak. A minute after that, Lane Hutson took an end-to-end rush and scored a beautiful goal, before Nick Suzuki converted shorthanded to put the game out of reach.
One day, we'll likely say these players cooled off, which was Montreal's ultimate downfall. However, it is now a race to the finish as the Canadiens are slowly distancing the gap between them and the rest of the teams contending for the wild card. A Montreal win on Sunday night against Nashville and a New York Rangers loss on Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning could be all the distance the Canadiens need to finish the job and get some home games at the Bell Centre.
The Canadiens will likely give Sam Montembeault the night off on Sunday, but if Martin St. Louis believes he can play, he will. Montembeault has been a star for the Canadiens over the last four games, posting an undefeated record with a 1.75 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. Things haven't been going as smoothly for Jakub Dobes, as he allowed 11 goals over his last two starts.
