The Montreal Canadiens get another Central Division foe when the Minnesota Wild invade the Bell Centre on Wednesday night. The Winnipeg Jets visited on Tuesday and handed the Canadiens their third consecutive loss. It won't get any easier against the Wild, but the good news is they may be a little fatigued, as they played 24 hours earlier against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Wild won 3-1, their second consecutive win after they struggled and fell to third in the Central.
How to Watch Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens
Date: Thursday, January 30
Time: 7:00 PM ET / 4:00 PM PT
Venue: Bell Centre
How to Watch: TSN2, RDS, Fanduel Sports Network, FuboTV
The Wild are going through some offensive struggles, which has been the reason for their 4-6 record over the past ten games. Matt Boldy has been their leading scorer over the past five games with just four points. Nick Suzuki holds that designation for the Canadiens, and he has only five points himself, which shows neither of these teams are doing too well on offense.
The most significant story after the Canadiens' loss to the Jets was the injury status of Kaiden Guhle. Guhle had immediate surgery on a quad laceration, which is likely to keep him out for an extended period, depending on the severity of the cut. It was a freak accident that could've happened to anyone, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing for a player who has spent too much time on the sidelines.
Speaking of disappointment, the falloff of the Canadiens over the past three games is terrible for a fanbase that had visions of a surprise playoff run. It shouldn't be a surprise that the team couldn't keep up the pace they've been on, but the way they were winning games had caused fans to buy-in. A win over the third-place team in the Central Division could lift their spirits and get things rolling in the right direction again.
