Heavy expectations lie on the shoulders of Cole Caufield as he moves into his fifth NHL season. Coming off a career high of 37 goals, 33 assists for 80 points and +/- of +9, in the 2024-25 season, he continues to be a crowd favourite.

Offensive Production and Role:
-After appearing in all 82 games last season, he is expected to build momentum and hopes to continue his upward trajectory of impact.
-Often discussed as a breakout candidate who can push beyond the 40-goal mark, many eyes look to him on the top line with Nick Suzuki for effective power-play control

Increased Expectations
-With an increase in young rookies and up-and-coming players joining in for the regular season, Caufield is now faced with greater pressure to lead by example and assist in mentoring the young talent
-The Canadiens have been making strides in building a more competitive, cup-contending team, which means that the focus is not only on individual growth, but team success
-Caufield will have high expectations, not only as a high-scoring individual, but also as a leader in a rising team

Keeping Momentum
While Cole Caufield finished the regular 2024-25 season with a new personal record, he also experienced highs and lows throughout the season. During the period from December 9th to 24th, he had a 7-game no-goal streak. On the opposite end of this, he came back swinging, in the time period of December 31st-January 10th, he mustered together an impressive 5-game goal streak. To keep the ball rolling and striving for improvement, Caufield should focus on scoring more consistently. With his eyes set on a 40+ goal mark, taking it one goal at a time can help him avoid droughts and lead the team to success.

Preseason Performance

-With the preseason kicking off on September 23rd vs the Philadelphia Flyers, Cole Caufield kicked things off fast, with 1 goal, 1 assist (2 points) and 3 shots on goal in his first game
-The Canadien's won the game 4-2, a promising indicator of their offensive readiness and confidence heading into the regular season

Many eyes will be looking toward Caufield this season as new faces arrive, and everybody is excited to see what energy he will continue to bring to the table.
