The Washington Capitals expected this season to be all about the pursuit of Alex Ovechkin's goal record. However, out of nowhere, they are contending for the first seed in the Eastern Conference and a possible President's Trophy. The Capitals cannot let this opportunity slip through their fingers, which is why they'll go hard to make some adds at the deadline that solidifies their lineup.
The middle of the ice is a concern from a depth perspective for the Capitals, which would make Evans a perfect fit in their middle-six. Lars Eller is their current third-line center, and would look much better sliding into Ethan Frank or Brandon Duhaime's spot on the wing with Evans in the middle.
