Cayden Primeau was going to be the backup of the Montreal Canadiens for the rest of this season. However, his play got so bad that the front office switched him and Jakub Dobes. Dobes has been a revelation for the Canadiens, while Primeau's form completely changed in Laval. Primeau is on the last year of his contract and will likely leave the Habs in the offseason. It makes sense for the Canadiens to try and acquire something for him at the trade deadline.
