Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquiring Matheson could have mixed reactions amongst the fanbase. On one hand, it wouldn't be fun to see a longtime Canadien go on a Stanley Cup run with the Maple Leafs. On the other hand, Matheson has his haters among the fanbase, and some may hope he would go to the Maple Leafs and buoy their chances. The reality is Matheson would be a good fit, as the Leafs could use another left-hand shot to run their top powerplay unit.
Let's paint a picture for you guys. Game 7 of the first-round, Matheson running the point with two minutes remaining and the Leafs have a powerplay in a tie game. Mitch Marner passes back to Matheson, he looks off Auston Matthews, fires a shot into Brad Marchand's shin pads, and Marchand goes on a breakaway to win the game.
