Third Period

Anderson is about as snake bitten as one can get. A point shot/pass from Matheson heads to an open Anderson in front of the net and he tips it, but it hits his own skate. Then he gathers the rebound and has plenty of space but his shot just barely touches a Lightning defenders stick redirecting the puck directly into the goaltender. He is going to go from zero goals to five really fast, but getting that first one is proving nearly impossible.

Slafkovsky continues to look more confident with the puck. Made a nice little rush on the power play to enter the attacking zone with speed and got the puck at the top of the crease and showed off some great hands to spin and bring it back to the forehand but was robbed of a goal by Matt Tomkins.

Canadiens finally score on their sixth power play of the game. Monahan with a long pass to Caufield who sets up Suzuki for a one-timer. That would make a great line at even strength at some point this season.

Love to see a guy like Pezzetta get rewarded with a goal. He works for every second of ice time at the NHL level. His first of the year and 13th of his career pulls the Habs within two. Could the Lightning actually blow another lead?

This Kaiden Guhle/Justin Barron pairing could stay together for a decade. If you were to build a defenseman today you would start with smarts and skating and both of these players have both of those qualities in abundance. Hard to believe they are both 21.

I know he scored in his first game of the season after being called up but I don’t see what Joel Armia brings that Jesse Ylonen can’t do. Time to get the much younger player back in the lineup and let him continue to develop while Armia waits until he is needed.

Hockey’s not fair. Kucherov and Stamkos do a quick give and go and Montembeault robs Kucherov with a sprawling save. The rebound lands on the stick of Nic Paul and he taps it in to make it 5-2 mere seconds after Montembeault’s incredible stop.

A couple of fairly ugly losses in a row has this team sitting at 5-5-2 and us fans have quickly been reminded this will be a long season. That 5-2-1 start was terrific while it lasted, but it hasn’t lasted.
