The Montreal Canadiens training camp began over a week ago with 72 players in attendance. Things have been dwindled down considerably since then as 28 players remain. The Habs have just one preseason game remaining so they needed to narrow their list in a hurry.

Some of those who were released from camp headed overseas or back to Junior for the upcoming season, but the bulk of them didn’t go far. More than two dozen Habs players were assigned to the Laval Rocket who began their own training camp yesterday and hit the ice for the first time.

As the Canadiens make their final cuts, a handful of more players will eventually be assigned to the Rocket, but the bulk of their team is already in town. As of this morning, the Laval Rocket training camp roster looks like this:

The Rocket continue their camp with practices today and tomorrow before they head to Toronto to take on the Marlies in their first preseason game on Thursday afternoon. Their second, and final, preseason game is on Sunday against the Belleville Senators.

The Rocket begin their regular season next Friday, October 13th when they host the Abbotsford Canucks. They host the Canucks again the next night, and as the roster above shows, there could be a young, skilled team in Laval this season looking to make the playoffs in a tough North Division.
